Just had a totally unexpected second or two of fame having been mistaken for part of the Olympic Torch cavalcade!\u00a0After cycling to see the torch passing through Chichester, my husband and I (wearing full-on fluorescent jackets) started pedalling behind the procession heading towards nearby Oaklands Park, only to find the crowd starting to cheer and wave \u2013 at us!<\/p>\n<p>Twigging what was happening, I swiftly leapt off my bike and, having had my slightly awkward moment to shine, quickly mingled into the melee of equally soaked but happy onlookers.<\/p>\n<p>The incident reminded me of Jesse Loynes \u2013 an inspirational boat-builder \u2013 who is experiencing not just a moment to shine but a whole year!<\/p>\n<p>I met Jesse last week during an interview for the forthcoming\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservancy.co.uk\/\">Chichester Harbour News &amp; Guide<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 a publication that I thoroughly enjoy writing for.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse, who runs\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arboryachts.co.uk\/\">Arbor Yachts Ltd<\/a>, at Thornham Marina, has been deeply involved with the fascinating\u00a0<a href=\"www.theboatproject.com\/\">Boat Project<\/a>\u00a0in conjunction with the Cultural Olympiad. Billed as \u2018a living archive of people&#8217;s stories and lives\u2019, this 30ft vessel, named Collective Spirit has been lovingly constructed from donated wooden items \u2013 each with its own very special story.<\/p>\n<p>Collective Spirit has been built by Jesse, and his dedicated colleagues plus dozens of enthusiastic volunteers, all led by Olympic sailor Mark Covell.<\/p>\n<p>Collective Spirit is currently sailing along the south coast of England in the run-up to the Olympics. It will arrive at the sailing venue in Weymouth and Portland, Dorset, in time for the Games.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Jesse and his team are working flat out to build the first Arbor 26 &#8211; a four-berth high-performance cruising yacht designed by internationally-renowned\u00a0<a href=\"www.rogersyachtdesign.com\">Rogers Yacht Design<\/a>\u00a0and inspired by Collective Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be able to see both this sleek new yacht and Collective Spirit at this year\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"www.southamptonboatshow.com\">PSP Southampton Boat Show<\/a>\u00a0which runs from September 14-23.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/janetmcmeekin.co.uk\/index.php\/olympic-2012-links-the-boat-project\/img_7014\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1113\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_7014\" src=\"http:\/\/janetmcmeekin.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/IMG_7014.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ahhh!
