A few years ago I was invited to a dark neglected cottage in West Sussex that had just been bought by a lovely couple I’d met while writing a feature about their previous home.
Although the exterior of the property was very attractive, inside it was a completely different matter. This was an unloved house, in dire need of a total renovation and heaps of TLC.
Well, I’m absolutely thrilled to discover that thanks to the owners’ vision, energy and enthusiasm, the cottage dating from 1511 – yep, 1511 – has been modernised perfectly and is now simply enchanting.
No stone has been left unturned and attention to detail blasts out loud and clear from, for instance, the pretty lampshade made by the owner to match the Roman blind in this striking Adam’s Eden fabric from Lewis & Wood, to a pair of beautifully framed photographs taken by a talented friend.
Personality oozes from every nook and cranny of this lovingly restored home which, once again, has a heart that’s beating loud and clear. The cottage is a true delight and I can’t wait to hear the full story about the owners’ amazing journey.
If you’re renovating or building a home and would love it to be featured in a magazine too then drop a line to mail@janetmcmeekin.co.uk. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks very much to everyone who has taken the time to pop over to my Facebook and Twitter pages. Have a good day! 🙂
